World Day for International Justice
July 17 is the World Day for International Justice. This day commemorates the formation of the International Criminal Court in 1988. This body, which began operation in 2002, is often referred to as the “court of last resort.” It rules on the most heinous of crimes–those of a nation against its people. Recent cases have involved Darfur and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
