National Bird Day
January 5 is also National Bird Day. This holiday is sponsored by the American Protective Institute and the Avian Welfare Coalition as a day to celebrate America’s wild birds and to draw attention to the explotation of exotic birds. A number of art events are scheduled for National Bird Day, in cities from New York to Phoenix. See the National Bird Day Web site for a location near you.
National Bird Day is also a great time for those of us that live in cold, snowy climates to remember to fill our birdfeeders for the birds that stay for the winter.
