Looking for Jewish Holiday Craft Ideas?
I just found a really great book at my local library - Crafting Jewish by Rivky Koenig. You can whip up dreidel place-card party favors using the template included in the back of the book, make crown napkin rings for Purim, make a glowing glass menorah, create a welcome sign for your succah and more. Most of the crafts are geared toward kids, but there are also quite a few delicious sounding recipes. It looks like all the major holidays are covered. A great resource for parents and educators looking for crafting ideas for Jewish holidays.
I really liked the book and had a lot of fun looking through it. In fact, I was reading it with two other people and we now are really, really hungry for Challah bread. It is not on any cholesterol friendly diet, though, so I decided I’d have to pass. Writing about the book today gave me another craving for Challah. I hopped online and found a recipe for a lower cholesterol version. Hmmm. I think there’s a reason it is called a lowered cholesterol version instead of being called a low cholesterol version, but it is definitely a healthier choice than traditional recipes.
I am working on a centerpiece inspired by the lovely glowing glass menorah craft in the book, but I didn’t want to be un-thrifty and just buy the votive holders, so I’m hunting through closets and bins for something I can use instead. So far, all I’ve found are several small vase type things and I’m wondering if forced bulbs in vases on a bed of marbles will give me a look that is even the least bit reminiscent of this craft!
