International Nurses Day
May 12 is International Nurses Day. Celebrated by the International Council of Nurses since 1965, the day marks the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, widely held to be the mother of modern nursing.
According to the Center for American Nurses, in 2004 there were 2.9 million registered nurses in the United States, 94.3 percent of whom are women. The average age of an RN in the US is $6.8 and 60 percent work in hospitals.
The theme for the 2008 International Nurses Day is “Delivering Quality, Serving Community: Nurses Leading Primary Health Care.” For more about International Nurses Day, see the ICN Web site.

HI…
Nursing is now very extended field of care, education and research by providing evidence-based practice.
Truly, the Pioneer of Florence Nightangel, the real leader to get recognized this was a profession at then time circumstances and thereby we celebrate Nurses Day on every 12th of May to pay tribute to her dedicated work for pateints care.
Profession has not fully be prioritized unitll and unless its independent body of central level as medical science and invollve male participants to choose this profesion as career because these would be the front line in all matter of policy, politics and carre structure in fututr.
