Getting Ready for Mardi Gras
by Sandy Mitchell on January 8th, 2008
It’s less than a month until Fat Tuesday, “Mardi Gras,” the traditional celebration before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. All over the world, notably in New Orleans and Rio, revelers don costumes, parade in the streets, and throw elaborate parties.
In 2008, Mardi Gras falls on February 5. Get ready for your own celebration with the following resources:
Mardi Gras Costumes. Whether you’re looking for a simple mask, a fanciful Venetian-style affair, or the duds to be the King or Queen of Mardi Gras, it’s all here.
Mardi Gras Beads. No Mardi Gras celebration is complete without beads. Wear them or use them as decorations.
New Orleans-Style Music. Set the mood for Mardi Gras with this “Best of Louisiana Music” CD.
Mardi Gras Party Supplies. Get ready for a party with affordable and festive plates, cups, napkins, cutlery, a centerpiece, a tablecloth, balloons, curling ribbon, and streamers–all disposable after the party for easy clean-up.
Masquerade Confetti - Throw this festive purple, gold, and green confetti in shapes of music notes, crowns, and masks. Or, decorate your buffet table with a sprinkling of confetti.
