Easter is just over a month away–March 23, to be exact. It’s time to start thinking about coloring Easter eggs. Paas, the leader in Easter eggs decorating kits sells over 10 million kits each season. They were kind enough to share some Easter eggs decorating tips with All Holiday Cafe readers. Visit their Web site for other Easter egg ideas, including plans for Easter egg hunts and kids craft ideas. The 2008 kits go on sale in mid-February and retail for $1.99 to $4.99.

Easter Egg Decoration Tips

1. Be Bold and Beautiful: Adding a few tablespoons of all-natural Heinz White Vinegar® to your egg wash will deliver brighter egg colors. Illuminate and add dimension to your eggs with PAAS new Hologram kit.

2. Stick It to ’em: Place shaped stickers, like flowers, hearts, bugs or other shapes, on eggs before dyeing. After the dye is dry, remove the sticker for a perfect silhouette.

3. The Mystery of the Magic Crayon: Draw on eggs with the clear wax “magic crayon” found in many PAAS® decorating kits. The wax protects the egg from the dye. After the dye has dried, wash the egg with hot water to remove the wax and try dipping into another color for a cool tie-dyed effect.

4. Make It Your Own: After eggs are dyed and dried, use a small photo, like a class picture, and stick it to the egg surface with non-toxic white glue mixed with water. Use PAAS new Stencil kit to create cool borders to make your picture pop.

5. Marvelous Mosaics: Apply tissue paper to dyed eggs using glue mixed with water. Try fun shapes like flowers and the Easter Bunny or overlap the random shapes of different colors to make a colorful mosaic.

6. Sparkle, Sparkle: Add sequins or sparkles to eggs while the dye is still wet to make an egg fancy enough for the diva in every family. Many egg decorating kits, like PAAS new Beaded kit, include a variety of embellishments for a true “bling bling” egg.

7. Mark Your Territory: Use a wax crayon to write each family member’s name on individual eggs before dyeing. Use the dyed eggs as place cards for Easter dinner or arrange them as a centerpiece.

8. Band Together: Wrap a few rubber bands around an egg before dipping it into the dye. After the egg dries, remove the bands, revealing white stripes. Try placing the rubber bands in different places and using another color for a striped rainbow effect!
